Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.

It’s times like these (when I’m stuck in stop and go traffic on the GW parkway), that I’m glad I keep a candy stash in my glove compartment. Time to listen to Ira and catch up on TAL.

Do over

Three years ago I tried to start a tumblog.  It lasted for about a month.  Even though I stopped sharing, I kept reading.  For years (years!) I have been reading certain tumblrs religiously.  I have read their book recommendations, tried new beauty supplies, purchased more stylish outfits (I really could go on and on) all because of tumblr.  I’ve followed some of you through pregnancies and cross country moves and sometimes smaller life events (but still important!)  Blame it on the new year, but I decided that I should start contributing.  I changed my url and title and cannot wait to inundate you with my thoughts.  I might even go so far as to share my “things that I bought that I love.”

PS - I’m working on a list of 101 things in 1001 days (inspired by snackgirl) but so far I only have 73.

Why I’m proud to be a military physician, yay Shannon!  I wish I was in Haiti delivering babies with you!
