Dear Universe

I watched a dad wave to his son after he got on the school bus this morning. You could feel the love between them and the excitement (son) mixed with nervousness (dad). And I realized, I want that. I want a guy in my life who is waving to our son on the school bus. Ok universe?!? Let’s make it happen, one day.

Reminder

Well, I have to say, my 33rd year is off to a pretty tremendous start. On my morning walk with Ollie, our local school crossing guard was sweet enough to say, “Now I’m not trying to get fresh with you, but you are beautiful, like I think you should be a model or something.”
And I’m posting this not as a brag but to remind myself on the days that I’m not feeling so beautiful, that what I see and what others see might be entirely different. So maybe, I shouldn’t be so hard on myself.

Dear Universe,

I’m ready. You know what for…let’s make it happen.

Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.

It’s times like these (when I’m stuck in stop and go traffic on the GW parkway), that I’m glad I keep a candy stash in my glove compartment. Time to listen to Ira and catch up on TAL.
